4. EXCHANGING INFORMATION

Say Nothing about Fault

Do not say anything about fault as this may invalidate a claim made to your insurer. It may also be used against you if you have to go to court.

Show your Licence and give your Car Details to Other Drivers

You should always carry your licence and show it to police and/or other drivers involved in the crash. Give details of the car, its owner and the name of your insurance company.

Collect Accident and Witness Details

Collect the names and addresses of the owners, drivers and insurers of cars involved as well as witness' details. Get witness' names and addresses as these may be crucial in any legal action resulting from the crash.

Make note of details such as the date, time and location of the crash. Don't forget to mention relevant particulars including lighting, road conditions and visibility. If possible, sketch a plan of the accident scene.
