Chapter 24:  Human Rights Complaints to the United Nations

Australia is a party to various international agreements - conventions or treaties - setting out what are considered to be basic human rights. Some allow people in Australia to complain to the United Nations about human rights violations when local remedies have proved inadequate. This chapter sets out the complaint process and provides on overview of the contents of those treaties under which complaints may be bought.
