Chapter 10:  Copyright and Associated Rights

Copyright is the right to control the copying and some other forms of exploitation of copyright material. In Australia, the rights of copyright owners derive from the Copyright Act 1968 (Cth) ("the Act"). The Act also grants other rights (performers' protection and moral rights) which complement copyright, and are briefly discussed in this chapter. For information relating to indigenous cultural and intellectual property issues, see also Chapter 30: NATIE TITLE & ABORIGINAL LAND AND HERITAGE.
