Management

Denise Beer has a Bachelor of Business with majors in Management and Accounting.  Denise has worked in the not for profit sector for over 20 years, most of that time in management.  Prior to commencing at Sussex Street in June 2005 Denise worked in the disability and unemployment sectors.  She is passionate about providing better outcomes for people and making the community a better place to live.  To demonstrate this, Denise volunteers her time as the Deputy Chair of the Bayswater and Noranda Community Banks branches of Bendigo Bank.

Lawyers and Caseworkers

Karen Bond gained a Bachelor of Social Work (Hons) in 1991 and a Bachelor of Law (Hons) in 2004. Prior to joining Sussex Street in March 2007 Karen worked for 12 years in child protection. Currently Karen is a generalist solicitor working in family law, civil law and minor criminal law.

Jenny Cogan has been providing advice and advocacy in all matters relating to tenants in private and public housing over the last two and a half years at Sussex Street.  Jenny advocates for clients in relation to public housing appeals and assists clients with preparation to appear at the Magistrates Court in applications under the Residential Tenancies Act.  Jenny is passionate about law reform and social policy in relation to housing.

Iris Watt has been employed by Sussex Street since January 2000, having previously worked as a volunteer financial counsellor at Creditcare. Since joining Sussex Street, Iris has completed the Diploma of Community Services (Financial Counselling) and was one of the first financial counsellors in WA to become an Accredited Member of the financial Counsellor Association of WA. She enjoys working with SSCLS local community to empower disadvantaged clients and has contributed to the development and operations of both the Financial Counsellors Resource Project and the WA NILS scheme.

Marise Resuggan   has been working at Sussex Street since 2006. Marise  had previously been working as the Night Legal Coordinator position  since that time until 2008,  When Marise was offered the position of  part-time in Financial Counsellor which has been made full-time recently  Marise has also completed the Financial Counselling Diploma, and is currently the Executive Secretary for Financial Counsellors Association of Western Australia. (FCAWA).Marise previously working it the Community Services industry for approximately 13 years. 

Rose Ngoga comes from a primary teaching background. Her journey in the disability sector began 27 years ago in Switzerland where, after graduating in special education at Fribourg University, she mainly worked with and for people with severe/profound disabilities and their carers. Rose was lucky to participate in a resource group for people with severe/profound disabilities funded by the European Union and comprised of parents and professionals from more than 7 European countries.  Since she has joined Sussex Street in February 2005, it has been a privilege for Rose to meet and learn from inspiring people with and without disability through their strength, their generosity, their resilience and their important valuable contribution. Rose has developed a keen interest in human rights and social justice values through her personal and professional journey.

Zoe O’Neill is the Welfare Rights Advocate.  Zoe graduates from the University of Western Australia with a Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Arts in 2010. Zoe joined Sussex Street in 2008 and worked as a tenant advocate before starting as Welfare Rights Advocate in 2010.
